Elliot is a registered physiotherapist and has worked at a variety of inpatient and outpatient facilities for over 20 years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Concordia University as well as a Master of Science degree in rehabilitation sciences from the University of Toronto.

Elliot has a special interest in the healthcare needs of drug users and other marginalized populations. He was a cofounder of a US non-profit that delivered drug-related harm reduction training to volunteers, heath-care professionals, clients/staff of AIDS service organizations, schools, and community groups
