Tye is a Registered Social Worker, with an MSW, and BSW from York University, as well as a Minor Degree in Sexuality Studies.

His professional social work practice has been comprised of clinical and community-based settings, with a strong background in building relationships with community members and organizations in the broader community with the goal of providing effective services to diverse populations.

His work has included populations that experience systematic marginalization and oppression, in areas such as; Addictions, Refugees, & LGBQ+ & Trans Youth in a drop-in setting, clinical mental health setting, individual counselling, and group facilitation.

Tye's philosophy of practice includes a holistic approach; incorporating feminist, anti-oppressive, and gender-affirming values.
