Mental Health Intake Instructions
Thank you for your interest mental health services at HQ. We offer in-person group therapy on various weekdays and at both afternoon and evening times. We do not offer any individual therapy or couples counselling. The services are open to cis guys into guys, as well as two-spirit, transgender, and non-binary individuals.
To access services, please come into the clinic to register in person. Please bring your provincial health card, or if you are not eligible for a provincial health card, please bring another piece of official photo ID with your full name. If you have UHIP or Interim Federal Health coverage, please bring this information with you.
During the registration you will be asked four mental health screening questions, asking what type of help you need. Please make sure to answer one of these questions with a “yes” to continue to the next step.
We also recommend that if you are eligible, you consider having a sexual health visit on this first visit at HQ, so you can make use of services like our rapid STI screening, starting PrEP (injectible or oral), and sexual health vaccinations.
After your registration you will be sent a series of online questionnaires to complete, which you can also complete on a tablet in the clinic. This can be done in English or Spanish. This will take between 20 minutes and one hour to complete, and must be done in one sitting. This process will suggest groups that you are eligible for.
Once we have reviewed your responses, someone from the team will contact you through email (info@hqtoronto.ca) to offer you a spot in our next available group. Please respond to this email to begin services at HQ. This can take up to 2 weeks depending on volume. Our groups are organized with introductory thearpies at the beginning (skills to address anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, substance use, or problem behaviours) and more specific treatments later.
There can be waitlists for some of our more specific treatments of up to 4-6 months, and these are accessed only after you have completed an introductory group.
