Mental Health/ Substance Use Peer Support Worker
These roles are intended for individuals who are members of the communities that HQ serves and are either living with HIV or have lived experience in recovery from either mental health or substance use concerns. ABOUT THE ROLE: In accordance with the principles and mission of HQ (learn more at https://hqtoronto.ca/about-hq/), the Peer Support Worker (PSW) shares their own consumer knowledge and lived experience of dealing with HIV or substance use or mental health concerns to assist clients of HQ in their identified goals. The PSW identifies themselves as a peer and collaborates with HQ service users by providing information from a lived experience perspective. The PSW assists HQ service users in navigating HIV, mental health and / or substance use services. The PSW works collaboratively with the HQ team to ensure the service user’s self-identified goals for healthcare, recovery, and community connection are supported by appropriate services and referrals and are consistent with the values of self-determination.
