Express testing and same-day initiation of PrEP research study
Context for research study
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is a once-daily prescription medicine, for adults and adolescents, taken to prevent getting HIV from sex.
Over half of the new HIV infections in Canada are among people from the 2SLGBTQ+ community. We know that PrEP is an effective way to prevent HIV infections, but getting PrEP can be difficult and can take a lot of time. This can lead to people delaying starting PrEP or not starting at all.
At HQ we want to make the process easier and faster, and will be conducting a research study to see if rapid starts for PrEP can make a difference and remove some of the barriers people in our community might experience when they want to get on PrEP.
If you’re interested in starting PrEP and would like more information or to enroll in our study, visit HQ!
