Trans ID Clinic Services

HQ Toronto and Kenet Family Law offer a free monthly Trans ID Clinic for 2STNB individuals. We help with forms, notarization, and cover all related costs. The clinic runs on the last Monday of each month (or the next day if it's a holiday).

Please check our FAQ section for answers to common questions, and review the registration section to learn how to sign up and where you will find the register button—it’s important to follow these steps to secure your spot.

Trans I.D. Legal Clinic: Registration & Appointment Process

  1. Registration

To register for the clinic:

  • Fill out the online registration form or register in person at our community partner locations.
  • Share your name (chosen or legal), contact info (phone and/or email), and a brief description of the legal I.D. support you’re seeking (e.g., name change, gender marker update).

All information is confidential and used only to support your appointment.

  1. Confirmation Process

After registering, we will contact you twice to confirm your attendance:

  1. Initial Contact: Within 3–5 days of registering, we’ll reach out to confirm you’re registered and answer any questions.
  2. Final Confirmation: 2–3 days before the clinic, we’ll follow up to reconfirm your spot.

If We Can’t Reach You:

  • If we don’t hear back after two contact attempts, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.
  • You’re still welcome to come on the day of the clinic, but walk-ins are handled on a space-available basis.

If You Can’t Attend

Please notify us as soon as possible if you can’t make it:

    • This helps us offer your spot to someone else in need.
    • Missing your confirmed appointment without notice may affect your ability to register for future clinics.
    • We know life happens — we’ll always do our best to accommodate and support you.

Day of the Clinic: Random Time Slot Selection

When you arrive at the clinic:

  • You’ll be invited to draw a card at random from a shuffled deck.
  • Each card represents a specific appointment time with a legal volunteer.
  • You will not be able to see the cards or choose based on time — it’s luck of the draw.

This keeps the process fair, reduces scheduling stress, and adds a bit of fun to the day.

We’ve Got Your Back

Our clinic is a safe, respectful, and affirming space for trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse folks. If you have questions or need assistance at any point, just ask.
