HQ Client & Community Advisory Council

The Client and Community Advisory Council provides advice to HQ and its community partners to help ensure that HQ remains accountable and that its performance monitoring and learning and improvement processes remain transparent to the clients and communities it serves. The Council is an advisory body; it does not direct programs and services.

As a Council member, you will:

• Review information on HQ services and its learning and improvement processes
• Provide advice to help HQ improve care, services and the user experience
• Be a voice for the community
• Share ideas that will inform HQ’s strategic planning

Council members will normally serve for a term of three years, which may be extended for a further year. However, applicants are asked to commit for a minimum of one year.

The Council will meet at least four times a year. Between meetings, you may be asked to review information about and provide advice on HQ’s services. During the year, there may also be other activities that Council members can participate in, such as community consultations.

We are looking for community members who:

• Are at least 18 years old
• Are currently using or have used HQ services or are a member of one of the communities HQ serves (see yellow box above)
• Are not practicing health care and social service professionals, paid employees of health and social service charities, employees of companies in health industries, elected officials, or employees of provincial and federal health ministries and agencies. This is because such individuals already have a strong voice in making their opinions known to HQ board and staff
• Enjoy working in partnership with others
• Are committed to helping and want to make a difference
• Want to ensure the best care experience for everyone who comes to HQ
